This public consultation website has been produced as part of our community engagement regarding an Outline planning application, which has been submitted to Medway Council by Bellway Homes Limited, for a proposed development of up to 150 homes at Land South of Moor Street and East of Meresborough Road, Rainham.

The purpose of the website is to provide residents with further information on the proposals, answer common questions and to receive feedback on the proposals.

Overview of the Proposals

The application includes the following key elements:

• Provision of up to 150 new homes, including affordable housing in a sustainable location;
• Creation of a new pedestrian and vehicle access arrangement off Moor Street (A2);
• Provision of a pedestrian and emergency access to Meresborough Road;
• Provision of new public open space and children’s play spaces;
• Provision of a high-quality landscape approach to the edge of Rainham;
• Sustainable drainage solution with features to support and enhance biodiversity;
• Retention and enhancement of the existing traditional orchard; and
• A package of measures which ensures the future dwellings are resilient to the impacts of climate change and deliver modern energy efficient homes.

As an Outline planning application, full details of site layout and appearance of the development will be subject to future applications (Reserved Matters). The only elements which are currently proposed to be fixed is the Site access and development areas.
